Welcome to the Gloucester Branch/Bristol Group. We have a friendly and active membership who participate in monthly meetings, visits, social events and talks.

Although our Branch has a common interest in the life and times of Richard III we have an individual and collective interest in all aspects of life during the late-medieval period. This is very much reflected in the talks and visits we enjoy each year. We are always interested in new members with specialized interests and pleased to incorporate the resultant wider scope as part of our ongoing activities.

Past activities include lectures by Michael Hicks, Rosemary Horrox, Keith Dockray and many other nationally renown historians. Annual Study Days have been a regular feature and have, again featured well known academics discussing a wide range of Late - Medieval topics. Historical visits and "field trips" are a popular part of our annual programme. For example visits have included Ewelme in Oxfordshire under the guidance of Dr Rowena Archer, Malmesbury Abbey Gardens and Maud Heath's Causeway in Wiltshire. We strive to maintain a "healthy" balance between historical research and sampling the local edible produce !

The first Saturday in each month should be reserved for meetings of the Gloucester Branch at a locations in the Cheltenham/Gloucester/Tewkesbury area. This years programme is on the "Events" page click Programme 2008 and see it (then close that page and you will return here). The meetings are open to everyone - we are very happy for casual visitors to join us at meetings to see if they like our activities. The Bristol Group need to reserve the third Friday in the month for their programme of meetings which can be found Group Programme 2008 at the "Group" page together with details of past outings.
